Welcome to the Business Ethics Blog!

Happy new year to all!

After twenty-five years of practicing as a lawyer, the vast majority of which were dedicated to helping my actuary clients stay true to their professional and personal integrity while maintaining their business relationships, I decided it was time to take my knowledge and viewpoint out to the wider world.  Ethics are, after all, a topic of universal concern, and it has been very apparent to me that the problems actuaries face in the business world are not unique to that profession.  Anyone who has ever been asked to do something unethical at work (or in any other setting, for that matter) has an interest in learning how to avoid committing an ethical lapse while keeping their jobs, their clients, and the good will of their professional colleagues.

Why me?  Because ethics, professionalism, and litigation risk management have been the backbone of my legal practice for over a decade.  If you’d like to know more about me, check out my bio, or visit my website, www.businessethicsspeaker.com.  As you’ll see, this is what I do.

The new year offers new opportunities to think about important matters and make positive changes.  While you’re starting your new diet, putting your new financial plan in place, or redecorating your house, why not spend some time thinking about how you can implement better ethical practices in your workplace?   As future entries will demonstrate, good ethics are good business, and you don’t have to make radical changes to see real improvements.

Looking forward to our future conversations and wishing you a happy, successful 2008,

Lauren
