Yesterday, The Wall Street Journal published the unhappy news that the current recession may well prove to be the ugliest slump our economy has had since the Great Depression. On average, the fifty-four economists who participated in the Journal’s survey don’t expect the downturn to hit bottom until June of next year. That means that we’re all going to be hurting for a while.
It also means that customer service is going to be more important than ever. If consumers are spending less, they’ll demand more value for the money they spend. Price won’t be the only measure of value - if a customer has a bad experience with a seller, there will be plenty of other vendors eagerly competing for that customer’s business.
So, if you’re an entrepreneur who’s trying to keep afloat in these stormy economic seas, how can you improve your customer service? Check out a blog called The Toilet Paper Entrepreneur , where you’ll find sixty practical tips (including offerings from me and from my friend Shel Horowitz) on how to make the good service you offer to your customers even better. It’s great advice offered for free. How can you beat that?
